«En tierras bajas» is the short story collection by Herta Müller, published by Siruela in hardback (184 pages, in Spanish).
Fifteen stories set in a closed, oppressive rural world, narrated through the gaze of a girl. Life in a Swabian village —family, death, children's games, church, school— is shown with a deceptive naivety that turns reality into nightmare, with omnipresent nature and almost dreamlike poetic flashes.
Original title: Niederungen. Translation by Juan José del Solar. Third edition. Libros del Tiempo collection, no. 250.
