«En Egypte avec Bonaparte» is the historical youth novel by Bertrand Solet, published by Nouveau Monde Editions in paperback (170 pages, in French).
François Laplume, a former soldier who only wants a peaceful life, enters the service of the scholar Dutilleul as a secretary and ends up embarking on Bonaparte's expedition to Egypt. Between the capture of Malta, the siege of Cairo and the battle of Syria, the expedition advances amid Bedouin attacks, heat and thirst. François and Dutilleul pursue the treasure of Queen Nitaqit; with the help of the interpreter Delphine, they cross the desert towards the pyramid of Mycerinus in a succession of flights and ambushes where individual adventure intertwines with the great historical episode.
Published in 2008, the novel belongs to the Toute une Histoire collection and received the Grand Prix des jeunes lecteurs (PEEP).
For young readers aged 12 and over and fans of historical adventure fiction.
