Elling, a work awarded the Norwegian Booksellers' Prize, tells the experiences of one of the most endearing characters in contemporary Nordic literature. Elling, endowed with an overactive imagination and spoiled by his mother, faces difficulties adapting to a new life after her death. He is interned in a center, from which he leaves to share a supervised apartment in Oslo with Kjell Bjarne, his 'blood brother', who represents his opposite in every aspect, starting with their remarkable difference in stature. This moving and funny comedy, which captivates the reader from the first page, celebrates the small pleasures of life.
