«El Sur seguido de Bene» is the volume of two short novels by Adelaida García Morales, published by Anagrama in paperback (112 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together two short novels linked by mystery around certain male characters. A physical absence becomes an unsettling, longed-for or ominous presence, from an adolescent gaze. The first, «El Sur», gave rise to the script of the eponymous film by Víctor Erice; «Bene» traverses territories close to incest and evil.
Volume 21 of the Narrativas hispánicas collection. Originally published on 1 May 1985.
