«El silencio del mar» is the short novel by Vercors, published by Plaza & Janés in paperback (90 pages, in Spanish).
During the German occupation of France, an officer moves into the home of a man and his daughter; their coexistence becomes a tense silence. On returning from Paris, he understands that his compatriots seek to destroy France. A classic tale about love between enemies and the perversity of war, with an antimilitarist tone.
Vercors wrote the work while part of the French Resistance; after the Second World War it achieved great international success. This Spanish edition was published in 1998.
Readers of classic fiction, especially those seeking short stories about the Second World War and French cultural resistance.
