«El Sapo Mariano y los Cisnes» is a children's story by Fernando Lalana and Violeta Monreal, published by Bruño in 1999 in paperback (32 pages, in Spanish).
The toad Mariano appears alongside the swans in a story that dialogues with the classic ugly duckling: the back cover evokes that tale and the illustrations show ducklings, an egg and water scenes. It is a short illustrated story with a humorous tone, aimed at early readers.
The cover places the title in the Cuentos de Colores collection, with the Los Malos badge.
With recommended reading from age 8, it is an option for children who already read alone and enjoy humorous versions of classic tales.
