«El salvaje» is the young adult novel by Antoni García Llorca, published by Ediciones SM in paperback (176 pages, in Spanish).
The protagonist, Bernabé, grows up in a remote valley, in contact only with wolves and eagles, and becomes a sensitive young man who does not understand the pettiness of society. The novel pits social norms against individual ethical values and narrates, between reality and fiction, the harsh situation of social orphans.
It belongs to the Gran Angular collection as number 280 and won the Gran Angular Prize 2009.
Recommended for young readers aged 14 to 18, with an interest in historical fiction and social themes.
