«El misterio de la cripta embrujada» is the mystery and satire novel by Eduardo Mendoza, published by RBA in paperback (192 pages, in Spanish).

Several schoolgirls from a school in San Gervasio disappear and a mental hospital patient, turned detective, gets caught up in a plot involving wealthy people. With a burlesque tone and satirical gaze, the novel draws on the picaresque and the Cervantine model, playing with the conventions of traditional storytelling.

First installment of the series «El innombrado detective o El paciente del Doctor Sugrañes». Originally published in 1978, this edition belongs to the collection «Narrativa actual» (no. 22).
