«El infinito en la palma de la mano» is the contemporary novel by Gioconda Belli, published by Booket in paperback (240 pages, in Spanish).
The novel imagines the life of Adam and Eve beyond the biblical story, in a primeval universe and with a lyrical, enigmatic register. The narrative addresses bewilderment at punishment, the power of procreation, the need to kill to survive, and the relationships of love and jealousy among their children.
The first edition of the work appeared in 2008, the year it won the Biblioteca Breve Prize and the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize.
For readers of contemporary Hispanic American fiction and literary recreations of myths and biblical stories.
