In 'The Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon', Tom Spanbauer transports us to Excellent, Idaho, in 1880. Cobertizo, the protagonist, suffers a traumatic experience when he is raped and witnesses the murder of his mother. Ida Richelieu, a prostitute and mayor, becomes his protector. The novel narrates Cobertizo's search for identity, a mystical path full of challenges and revelations. Spanbauer celebrates sexuality in all its forms, addresses violence, and offers a poetic reflection on language. A work that explores identity and redemption in an unusual and evocative context.
