«El héroe de las mansardas de Mansard» is the novel by Álvaro Pombo, published by Editorial Anagrama in hardback (208 pages, in Spanish).
A Spanish boy observes the adult world in the years immediately after the Civil War and reinterprets it from his childish perspective, discovering the gestures, silences and contradictions of those around him. The novel thus builds a portrait of the postwar period through the protagonist's eyes.
It is part of Anagrama's Narrativas hispánicas collection, where it occupies number 1. It won the Herralde Novel Prize in 1983.
For readers of contemporary Spanish fiction and for those who follow the career of Álvaro Pombo.
