«El escriba del faraón» is the historical novel by César Vidal, published by Ediciones Martínez Roca in hardback (304 pages, in Spanish).
Under the reign of Amenhotep II, the young scribe Nebi, friend and confidant of the pharaoh, witnesses the repression of the Hebrews and the battle of Tijsi. The corruption of the court and Moses' demand to worship a single god lead to the Exodus. The novel recreates the origins of Israel and reflects on historical manipulation.
Published in 2007, it is number 1 in the MR Novela Histórica collection and bears the subtitle «La novela definitiva sobre el antiguo Egipto».
Aimed at readers of historical fiction interested in ancient Egypt and fiction about the Exodus.
César Vidal Manzanares is a Spanish historian, author, political commentator, and radio host.
