«El error de Descartes» is Antonio Damasio's popular science essay, published by Booket in paperback (400 pages, in Spanish).
Antonio Damasio questions the separation between mind and body inherited from Descartes and argues that emotions are essential to human rationality. Using cases of prefrontal cortex damage, he shows how the loss of emotional life can incapacitate decision-making, and proposes an integrated vision of brain, body, and reason.
Translation by Joandomènec Ros. Originally published in 1994, it is part of the Booket Ciencia collection.
Aimed at the general public interested in neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy, and in the debate on emotions and rationality.
