«El elixir de los reyes» is the historical novel by Thierry Maugenest, published by Grijalbo Mondadori in hardback (256 pages, in Spanish).

Set in Seville during the reign of Alfonso X, the plot follows a royal physician investigating the deaths of several merchants struck by an illness that seems supernatural. Before dying, each victim has received a message announcing their own end, pointing to a far more human cause than a curse.
