«El disputado voto del señor Cayo» is the novel by Miguel Delibes published by FisicalBook in paperback, in Spanish.
A group of political party activists travels through the empty villages of northern Castile on a campaign. In one of them they meet Señor Cayo, one of the last two remaining residents, an old man who embodies traditional rural life. From the encounter between his wisdom and the young people's discourse emerges a portrait of rural abandonment and the clash between two ways of understanding the world.
The novel was originally published in 1978 and was adapted into a film.
Aimed at readers of Spanish fiction and students approaching Delibes's work.
