«El deseo de Aurelio» is a children's story by Rafael Freyre Martínez, published by Fondo de Cultura Económica in paperback (48 pages, in Spanish).
Aurelio and his grandfather Cascanueces set out to see the world at the dawn of a new millennium. On their journey they encounter poverty, hunger, disease, discrimination and pollution, evils that make them see the urgency of changing things and seeking better living conditions for all.
Enrique Martínez provides the illustrations for this edition. It belongs to the A la Orilla del Viento collection and was published in 2005.
Recommended for readers aged 13 to 15; a good starting point for conversations about cooperation and compassion.
