«El bosque originario» is the historical essay by Jon Juaristi, published by Taurus in paperback (352 pages, in Spanish).
The essay traces the mythical genealogies that have defined European peoples, from archaic Greece to the Second World War. Juaristi tracks recurring motifs —autochthony, divine election, purity of blood or language— and shows their common logic of exclusion, which exalts one's own and denies the other. A work in dialogue with Poliakov, Eco, Lévi-Strauss, and Assmann.
It belongs to the Taurus Pensamiento collection. Published on 13 April 2000; includes bibliographic references.
Aimed at readers interested in European history, national identities, and origin myths.
