«El año de la plaga» is the contemporary fiction novel by Marc Pastor, published by RBA in paperback (384 pages, in Spanish).
Social worker Víctor Negro spends a sweltering August in Barcelona torn between heartbreak and migraines. A wave of elderly suicides, each with a eucalyptus plant and overly resigned relatives, pushes him to investigate. Confusing news about a virus, swine flu, and the disappearance of the Internet compose an increasingly strange scenario.
«El año de la plaga» belongs to the Otros Ficción collection, number 449, and was published on 21 October 2010.
For readers of contemporary fiction who enjoy mystery plots and unsettling urban atmospheres.
