«El ángel triste» is the crime novel by Carlos Pérez Merinero, published by Bruguera in paperback (100 pages, in Spanish).
The novel follows a man who decides to shut himself in his flat to avoid taking on responsibilities and devote himself solely to watching films; his refuge crumbles when an unbearable neighbour bursts into his routine. The story portrays the collapse of a moral conscience and the descent towards self-destruction.
It is part of Bruguera's Crime Novel collection, number 78 in the Libro Amigo series; «Días de guardar», the author's first novel, also appeared in that collection.
A read for fans of Spanish crime fiction from the 1980s and of Bruguera's Libro Amigo collection.
