«Drôles de zèbres» is Brigitte Smadja's children's stage comedy, published by L'École des Loisirs in paperback (80 pages, in French).
Louise and Charles spend their days quarrelling, and their mother no longer knows what to do. After a visit to their friend Joseph, who owns three monkeys, a crow and an alligator in the bathtub, the two siblings return with a different attitude and want pets. The difficulty is that their mother detests them. The play humorously addresses the daily war between parents and children.
It is the theatrical adaptation of a novel from the Mouche collection of L'École des Loisirs; the edition is from 1995.
Suitable for a children's audience aged 6 to 9 and as a first introduction to theatre.
Brigitte Smadja was a Tunisian-born French author.
