«Dora Bruder» is the novel by Patrick Modiano published by Gallimard Éducation in paperback (208 pages, in French).
The narrator comes across, by chance, in an old copy of the Paris-Soir newspaper from 1941, an advertisement seeking a fifteen-year-old girl named Dora Bruder. Using archives, documents and testimonies, he reconstructs the life of Dora and her family in occupied Paris, intertwining personal and collective memory.
Work originally published in 1997; this 2004 edition, in French, belongs to the collection «La bibliothèque Gallimard» (no. 144) and includes a critical dossier and complete text.
