«Don Juan Tenorio» is the romantic drama by José Zorrilla, published by Austral in paperback (288 pages, in Spanish).
Young don Juan Tenorio leads a dissolute life of bets, love affairs and duels. Don Juan wagers with another gallant to see who can cause more harm in a year, and sets out to seduce the novice doña Inés and his rival's fiancée. This drama condenses the romantic ideal in masks, mystery, gloom and the hero's confrontation with his fate.
This edition includes a prologue by Francisco Nieva and a reading guide by Juan Francisco Peña, in the Austral Clásica collection. «Don Juan Tenorio» was originally published in 1844.
For students and readers approaching Spanish romantic theatre and the myth of don Juan.
