«Dictadura i democràcia» is the historical essay by Marc Macià Farré, published by the Universitat de Lleida in paperback (276 pages, in Catalan).
It investigates the political life of Les Borges Blanques between 1923 and 1936, a little-studied local period. It contrasts the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera with the Second Republic and analyses the actions of the town council, the formation of parties, their traditions and their protagonists. It argues that the change of regimes conditioned the economic, social and cultural development of the municipality, with political action as a driving force for the transformation of the rural world. The work is organised in two parts, with an introduction and general conclusions.
First edition published on 23 April 2018. Volume 20 of the Josep Lladonosa collection, with some black-and-white photographs.
Work aimed at readers interested in local Catalan political history and the interwar period.
