«Macià, el president del poble» is the biography of Francesc Macià by Quintí Casals Bergés and Marc Macià Farré (Editorial Fonoll, paperback, 236 pages).
Two little-known facets of Francesc Macià: his roots in the lands of Lleida, key to his military and political formation, and his ideological shift from the conservatism of the Lliga to the workerism of the Federació Democràtica Nacionalista. It also addresses his move from loyalty to Alfonso XIII to independentist republicanism.
Subtitled «Origens ponentins i pensament polític», it is a work in Catalan published on 27 March 2024.
For those interested in the history of Catalonia and the figure of Francesc Macià, with special attention to his connection with Lleida.
