«Desde que mi padre es un arbusto» is the children's novel by Joke van Leeuwen, published by Ediciones SM in paperback (152 pages, in Spanish).
Ina is the daughter of a pastry chef. When war breaks out, her father must leave and gives her a manual with tricks to confuse the enemy, like camouflaging as a bush. When the conflict reaches her grandmother, Ina sets out on a journey to reunite with her mother; along the way she feels like a parcel that never quite reaches its destination.
It belongs to the El Barco de Vapor Naranja collection, number 221. The Spanish edition was published in 2013.
Recommended for readers aged 7 to 9, with a mix of humour and sensitivity to approach war from childhood.
Johannes Leendert van Soest was a Dutch engineer and botanist renowned for his taraxacological work.
