«Des cœurs découpés» is the novel by Brigitte Smadja, published by Actes Sud in paperback (224 pages, in French).
At fifteen, Judith discovers in a bourgeois environment that she is adopted. The revelation does not seem to disturb her: she does not seek her origins and builds her life, but sometimes she disappears without explanation and avoids the past. The novel addresses lies, bourgeois selfishness, and the repressed feelings of a broken family.
The novel was originally published in 1999 in the 'Domaine français' collection by Actes Sud.
For readers of contemporary French fiction seeking an intimate story about identity, lies, and family secrets.
Brigitte Smadja was a Tunisian-born French author.
