In 1910, Santiago Rusiñol embarks on a transatlantic voyage to Argentina, intending to sell fabrics and collaborate on theatrical performances in Buenos Aires. From the shores of the Plata, Rusiñol describes the bubbling of the American universe with his ironic pen. Through his articles, sent to L’Esquella de la Torratxa, he not only shows his facility for satire but also a fine ability to understand the course of the world at the beginning of the 20th century. After a stop in Brazil, Rusiñol arrives in Buenos Aires, exploring La Pampa and visiting cities such as Rosario, Tucumán, and Montevideo. This journey is the longest he undertook, resulting in one of the great travelogues of Catalan literature.

Santiago Rusiñol i Prats was a Spanish painter, poet, journalist, collector and playwright. He was one of the leaders of the Catalan modernisme movement. He created more than a thousand paintings and wrote numerous works in Spanish and Catalan.
