«D'autres chemins» is the short story collection by Enis Batur, published in 2008 by Actes Sud in paperback (272 pages, in French).
In this work, Batur recalls his childhood as a boarder at a French institution in Istanbul, guided by Brother Claude toward literature and art. Years later, he seeks out that teacher in France and, on a trip to Turkey with his son, confronts the loss of his father. A reflection on belonging, inheritance and memory.
Work originally published in Turkish as «Başka Yollar» (2002); the French translation is by Ferda Fidan.
For readers interested in contemporary Turkish literature and works with an autofictional tone about memory and art.
