«Das Leben war schneller» is the novel by Xavier Moret, published by Dtv in paperback (280 pages, in German).
Max Riera, an unsuccessful comic artist and ghostwriter, reluctantly accepts a commission from Pau Gisbert, a former classmate now an executive, to write a police series script with a happy ending in two weeks. He hasn't written anything yet when his own life entangles him with several dead people and dictates a plot the commission didn't foresee.
First novel in the Max Riera series; German translation of the original Catalan «Qui paga, mana», published in 1997.
