«Danseur» is the historical novel by Colum McCann, published by Belfond in paperback, with 369 pages, in French.
A novel that recreates the life of dancer Rudolf Nureyev, from the Urals to New York's underground clubs, via Leningrad and the international jet set. McCann combines voices close to the protagonist —family, friends, lovers and Margot Fonteyn— to tell of his obsession with dance, the price of exile and his transformation into a 20th-century myth.
French translation of 'Dancer' (2003), original in English, by Jean-Luc Piningre. The French edition was published in August 2003. The original won the Irish Novel of the Year in 2004.
For readers of literary and historical fiction interested in ballet and the figure of Rudolf Nureyev; also suitable for reading groups.
