«Cyrano de Bergerac» is the play by Edmond Rostand, published by Oxford University Press España, S.A. in paperback (64 pages).
Cyrano de Bergerac, a philosopher of sharp wit and brilliant speech, wonders whether he can be loved despite his prominent nose. Edmond Rostand portrays a historical figure turned myth: verbal duels and swordplay articulate a work that blends genres, tones, and theatrical influences around love.
It belongs to the Mise En Scène collection, with an adaptation by Catherine Barnoud, and is presented as easy reading in French for Spanish students.
Aimed at secondary-school French students, it serves as graded reading to approach the classics of French literature.

Edmond Eugène Alexis Rostand was a French poet and dramatist. He is associated with neo-romanticism and is known best for his 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac. Rostand's romantic plays contrasted with the naturalistic theatre popular during the late nineteenth century. Another of Rostand's works, Les Romanesques (1894), was adapted to the 1960 musical comedy The Fantasticks.
