«Cuentos orientales» is the short story collection by Marguerite Yourcenar, published by Bibliotex, in paperback (95 pages, in Spanish).
A volume of short stories bringing together tales such as that of the painter Wang-Fo, the last love of Princess Genji, the widow Afrodissia or the beheaded Kali, along with an epilogue by the author. The stories recreate legends and myths of the East and the Mediterranean world through Yourcenar's narrative gaze.
Part of the 'Biblioteca de literatura universal' collection. Published in 1994, it is a Spanish translation of 'Nouvelles orientales', an original work from 1938.

Marguerite Yourcenar was a Belgian-born French novelist and essayist who became a US citizen in 1947. Winner of the Prix Femina and the Erasmus Prize, she was the first woman elected to the Académie Française, in 1980. In 1965, she was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
