«Cuentos del reino secreto» is a collection of fantasy short stories by José María Merino, published by Alfaguara in paperback (312 pages, in Spanish).
Twenty-one short stories that move between the real and the fabulous, with the unsettling calm of tales told by the fireside. The extraordinary erupts into rural, everyday settings, where characters accept it naturally: circles in crop fields or a giant egg by the lake.
The volume belongs to the Alfaguara Bolsillo collection, number 117; the edition was published in 1998.
For readers of fantasy and short fiction seeking mystery stories rooted in the everyday and in rural settings.
