«Contes pour enfants pas sages» is the children's storybook by Jacques Prévert, published by Livre de Poche in paperback (96 pages, in French).
The book brings together short stories featuring animals in absurd situations and overflowing imagination: an ostrich that devours bells, melancholic antelopes, a sea elephant that sits on its belly, and a dromedary that juggles wardrobes. Prévert's sarcastic and poetic humour entertains both children and adults.
Originally published in 1947, this edition is from 1977.
Recommended for young and adult readers who want to discover Prévert's surrealist humour, as well as for students of French.
