«Contes de les tragèdies de Shakespeare» is a collection of stories by Charles and Mary Lamb, published by La Gaya Ciència in 1984, in Catalan.
The book brings together narrative versions of William Shakespeare's tragedies. Charles and Mary Lamb rewrite them as stories to bring the theatre of the English playwright closer to readers beginning in classical literature, with a simple and didactic approach.
It is aimed at young readers and at those looking for a first approach to Shakespeare in Catalan.
Charles Lamb was an English essayist, poet, and antiquarian, best known for his Essays of Elia and for the children's book Tales from Shakespeare, co-authored with his sister, Mary Lamb (1764–1847).
