«Confissões de uma freira pagã» is the historical novel by Kate Horsley, published by Ésquilo in paperback (192 pages, in Portuguese).
A fifth-century manuscript found near Kildare (Ireland) is the starting point. Written in Gaelic with phrases in Latin, it records the first-person testimony of Gwynneve, an Irish nun caught between ancient druidic wisdom and the advance of Christianity.
The work was originally published in English as «Confessions of a Pagan Nun» in 2001. The Portuguese translation is by Mariana Alves-Pereira; the Ésquilo edition appeared in 2002.
For readers of historical fiction interested in medieval Ireland, Celtic spirituality and early Christianity.
