«Climax 1. El desierto blanco» is the science fiction and adventure comic by Eric Corbeyran, Luc Brahy and Achille Braquelaire, published by Dargaud in French paperback edition (46 pages).
Leia, a brilliant mathematician, travels to a scientific base in Antarctica to study global warming and verify the data of other researchers. Her initial enthusiasm fades when she discovers that scientific protocols are not respected, and her eagerness to point out what she sees places her in an uncomfortable position. The story, with an ecological thriller tone, combines the consequences of climate change with the tension between personal interests and scientific rigour.
First volume of the Climax series, a quartet derived from the Imago Mundi series. It was published in 2008 by Dargaud.
Recommended for readers of European comics looking for an adventure of scientific intrigue with an ecological backdrop and realistic artwork.
