«Chaleur du sang» is the novel by Irène Némirovsky, published by France Loisirs in hardback (161 pages, in French).
In a village in 1930s France, Silvio, an old traveller, observes rural life and recalls François and Hélène Érard: their meeting, her marriage to a wealthy landowner and their reunion. After the wedding of their daughter Colette to Jean Dorin, Jean's death brings to light the secrets and hidden passions of that society.
Written in 1937, the novel remained unpublished for almost seventy years; the first edition dates from 2007 and this one from France Loisirs from 2008.
For readers of classic French fiction and followers of Irène Némirovsky: it is set in the village where the author wrote Suite française.

Irène Némirovsky was a novelist of Ukrainian Jewish origin who was born in Kiev, then in the Russian Empire. She lived more than half her life in France and wrote in French, but was denied French nationality. Arrested as a Jew under the racial laws – which did not take into account her conversion to Roman Catholicism – she died in Auschwitz at the age of 39. Némirovsky is best known for the posthumously published Suite française.
