«Carmen de Mairena» is the illustrated biography of Carlota Juncosa, published by Blackie Books in hardback (224 pages, in Spanish).
Carlota Juncosa spent nearly a year with Carmen de Mairena; from that friendship comes this illustrated portrait of a woman who fought to be a woman: a woman of the neighbourhood and the street, a television star and emblem of the other Barcelona. The prologue by Javier Pérez Andújar frames a contradictory figure, as unique as she was.
First edition published in Barcelona by Blackie Books in 2017, with a prologue by Javier Pérez Andújar.
For readers interested in illustrated biographies, Barcelona popular culture and the memory of television in Spain.
