«Cantique de la racaille» is the novel by Vincent Ravalec, published by Flammarion in paperback (378 pages, in French).
A small-time Parisian thief goes from a miserable dive to running a company, with easy money and a comfortable life. But success does not dispel his murky thoughts: a voice reminds him that glory and fortune may not be for him. Ravalec traces his life in twelve chapters with mordant irony.
