«Breu història dels que ja no hi són» is the speculative fiction novel by Kevin Brockmeier, published by Columna CAT in paperback, in Catalan.
Laura Bird is left alone in a remote frozen landscape when her two companions go out to seek help and do not return. In parallel, more people arrive at a nameless city: they are the dead, who remain there as long as someone on Earth remembers them. Laura's journey and that city are linked, in a story about loss and memory.
Originally published as The Brief History of the Dead in 2003; this Catalan edition, from 2006, has 250 pages, with a translation by Lluís-Anton Baulenas.
A read for fans of speculative and contemporary fiction seeking stories about loss, memory, and what comes after death.
