«Bajo el influjo del cometa» is Jon Bilbao's short story collection, published in 2010 by Salto de Página in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).
The ordinary world twists in these stories: a beached whale ruins a family's beach day, spying on neighbours who read the Bible unsettles an agnostic couple, and a comet disorients a small coastal town. Faced with these situations, the characters confront unknown areas of themselves and discover that not everything is what it seems.
Volume 23 of Salto de Página's Púrpura Collection; the work won the Tigre Juan Prize.
For readers of contemporary fiction in Spanish who seek stories where the strange appears in ordinary situations.
