«Attirances» is the novel by Didier Van Cauwelaert, published by LGF/Le Livre de Poche in paperback (219 pages, in French).
The novel interweaves three stories linked by a single secret: a writer harassed by a student who analyzes his work, a painter who believes himself guilty of the death of the women he portrays, and a house whose hypnotic influence disturbs those who inhabit it. Attraction is presented as an ambiguous impulse: resist it or let yourself go.
The work originally appeared in 2005; this French edition dates from 2007.
