«Algo en que creer» is the contemporary fiction novel by José Pellón, published by Littera in hardback (414 pages, in Spanish).
In the sixties, Marta raises her son Nico alone while clashing with Francoism and ends up in a conservative family. Nico, educated in a Catholic school he detests, meets the heroin-addicted punk Zen at high school. Together they flee to Madrid for the 1980 Ramones concert and form a band. A story of illusions, disappointments and generational rawness.
The title comes from «Something To Believe In», by Ramones; the novel is inspired by the movida madrileña and belongs to the Narradores Littera series.
For readers of contemporary fiction who prefer a stark novel, with direct language and punk culture.
