«Abuelos» is the children's picture book by Chema Heras, published by Kalandraka in hardback (40 pages, in Spanish).
Manuela looks in the mirror and doubts her appearance, but Manuel assures her she is as beautiful as the sun and invites her to dance. With cumulative structure and poetic text, it narrates the lives of two elderly people who age with humour and tenderness, showing that love discovers beauty at every stage of life.
The illustrations are by Rosa Osuna. It was published in 2006 in Kalandraka's «libros para soñar» collection.
Recommended for children aged 5 to 6; due to its theme of love and old age, it also works as shared family reading.
