«Abby» is the children's story by Wolfram Hänel, illustrated by Alan Marks, published by North-South in paperback (60 pages, in English).
Moira, a young girl, adores her dog Abby. When Abby suffers accidental poisoning and her condition seems desperate, Moira cares for her tirelessly day and night. Neither the adults' opinions nor exhaustion make her abandon her companion; a story about friendship, loyalty, and hope.
Work originally published in German as «Angst um Abby: Eine Hundegeschichte aus Irland»; the 1998 English translation is by Rosemary Lanning, under the North-South / Night Sky Books imprint.
Aimed at children aged 4 to 8: read-aloud, early readers, and lovers of dog stories.
