«A Spy Among Friends» is Ben Macintyre's espionage essay about Kim Philby, published by Bloomsbury in paperback (368 pages, in English).
Kim Philby was one of the most celebrated double agents of the twentieth century: a senior figure in British intelligence during the Cold War and, at the same time, a Soviet spy. With access to MI5 archives, Macintyre reconstructs the story through his friendship with Nicholas Elliott and James Jesus Angleton, and shows how personal loyalty could blind those closest to him. The book includes an epilogue by John le Carré.
Originally published in 2015, this book was a great commercial success and was adapted into an ITVX series starring Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce.
For readers interested in espionage, Cold War history, and biographies of real characters with a thriller pace.
