«A Child's Garden: A Story of Hope» is the children's picture book by Michael Foreman, published by Walker Books in paperback (32 pages, in English).
A boy lives among ruins left by war; a wire fence and soldiers separate him from the fresh green hills where his father used to take him as a child. When he discovers a tiny shoot among the rubble, he tends it with water and patience; the plant grows and becomes a symbol of hope and of nature's transformative power.
The paperback edition dates from 2010. The cover features an illustration in muted tones with accents of colour.
Suitable for early readers aged 5 to 7, with themes of war and hope treated in an accessible way.
