Natascha Kampusch suffered the most terrible fate that could happen to a child: on March 2, 1998, at the age of 10, she was kidnapped on her way to school. The kidnapper, telecommunications engineer Wolfgang Priklopil, held her prisoner in a basement dungeon for 3,096 days. During that period, she was subjected to all kinds of physical and psychological abuse and needed to find strength within herself not to give in to despair. This book tells her story of survival and resilience.

Natascha Maria Kampusch is an Austrian author and former talk show host. At the age of 10, on 2 March 1998, she was abducted and held in a secret cellar by her kidnapper, Wolfgang Přiklopil, for more than eight years, until she escaped on 23 August 2006. Upon her escape, Přiklopil died by suicide by train at a nearby station. She has written a book about her ordeal, 3,096 Days (2010), which was later adapted into a film that was released in 2013.
