«1635: The Tangled Web» is the alternate history and science fiction novel by Virginia DeMarce, published by Baen Books in 2009 in paperback and in English.
The ring of fire moves Grantville to 1635 Europe, in the middle of the Thirty Years' War. The novel alternates the perspectives of twentieth-century Americans and seventeenth-century Europeans, who negotiate, clash and weave a new society while modern ideas of freedom and justice challenge the old order.
It is the 14th installment of the Assiti Shards series, within Eric Flint's Ring of Fire universe, and continues the events narrated in 1634: The Bavarian Crisis.
For followers of the Ring of Fire series and for readers of historical uchronia with an interest in seventeenth-century Europe.
